GameDevBits Polygon Nature spawners for Gaia 2/Pro in Unity 3d

This pack contains a series of Gaia spawners under a custom biome covering everything from ground textures, trees, grass, flowers, bushes, and rocks to spawn on your terrain.

It uses the assets from Synty Studios Polygon Nature pack. But only the soft/stylized trees and not any hard polygon trees.

The spawners are grouped together into 5 separate spawners under one child biome.

Spawner Breakdown

  • The ground texture spawner uses a combination of slope and height masks along with large scale noise for variety. It creates rock, sand, mud, multiple grasses and cliffs.
  • The large tree spawner uses a combination of slopes, height masks and large scale noise to place trees of various types with height and scale variety, along with bushes and some grass. There's a possibility for the ground texture under trees to be altered as well.
The key beauty of the pack is the multiple layers of trees and their relationship to one another. Trees rarely spawn alone and have companions/buddies with them. There's a chance for large groves of trees to spawn as well.
  • The ground rock spawner uses the same slope, height and noise masks to divide the terrain into large scale rocky/plain areas. Rocks spawn only in these rocky areas to help create variety for players. Along with several types of rock piles, large boulders also spawn, and with the correct tag applied to the prefab, rocky areas spawn around them as shown in the underwater shot above.
  • The grass clutter spawner uses noise maps, slopes and texture matching to spawn grass on the grass textures on the terrain. Multiple types of grass are used with variety in their healthy/dry colours to create a complex and lifelike looking weave of grass. These large scale noise maps help create grassy and plain areas across the terrain.
The default flower colour is blue, however selecting the GrassFlower in this spawner makes it a fast easy change to switch colours by changing the dry colour.
Additionally, small rocks spawn across sandy areas to provide additional visual detail in those plain looking spots.
  • The decoration spawner is smaller than the others and applies some small scattered logs and mushrooms about. It uses a large noise map with tight controls to create few spots for these to spawn.

All spawners spawn relative to sea level, leaving you free to adjust it as needed.

How to use

This package contains only the spawners themselves. You'll need Gaia 2/Pro installed in your project (Unity 2020 and up) and Polygon Nature from Synty Studios.

You'll find the biome here:

Assets\GameDevBits\ProcWorldsTools\Gaia Biomes

You can copy the biome into Gaia's user biomes folder.
Or simply create your terrain as normal with Gaia, set the biome to custom and add no spawners. Once you're finished sculpting, select the Biome file in the folder and click "Add Biome to Scene". Once done, simply select the biome in your hierarchy (under Gaia Tools) and "Spawn Biome" to make it happen.

You can respawn any time. Textures will work the same based on slopes and heights, but the noise masks will change. And trees, grass, rocks, bushes, flowers will all generate anew.

Tweaks

1. To get the little buddy rocks you'll need to create a new tag "Rocks". And apply it to the large rock prefabs you want them to have buddies.
These ones:

2. As listed above you can change the colour of the flowers by selecting the FlowerGrass rule in the spawner GDB_SyntyNatureGrassClutter and changing the dry colour to something else.
