Modular Heroes Colour Changer

Synty Studios Modular Fantasy Heroes comes with an amazing shader that lets you change the colours of the characters. It has predefined shader sections for skin colour, "Primary Colour", "Secondary Colour" etc.

But because it is built with a shader, you can't use the colour changing capability of these characters with other shaders. It means no HDRP support, no toon shaders etc.

We've built the Modular Heroes Colour Changer to support changing those colours in any shader by simply writing to the texture itself.

How to use it

1. Download the tool and import into your unity project
2. Click Tools > Gamedevbits > Modular Heroes Colour Change
3. Select the modular heroes texture (found in Assets/PolygonFantasyHeroes/Textures)
   NB - After selecting your texture you'll need to enable the tool to write to it.First - click the texture to view it's properties and tick "Read/Write Enabled"
   - Then select "None" under compression. 
   See screenshot below for details.
4. Click "Load Modular Hero Defaults" to create the array of colour pickers.
5. Optional: Enter a folder name to save a copy of the texture to. This defaults to "_MHMats". This will be a subfolder of the Assets folder.
   If the folder doesn't exist, it will be created.
6. Optional: Enter a suffix. This will be added to the end of the file name to prevent overwriting the original texture.
7. Now just pick your colours and click "Set Colours" to save it to the texture.
8. Now you can use this created texture as the albedo/_maintex in whatever shader you need.
9. If changing colours again (and again) on a texture, you'll need to right-click the texture file and Refresh or Reimport to update it.

And now the Synty Modular Heroes are free to work in HDRP, with your favourite toon shader etc.
